Best Places to Buy Books

As a stay-at-home of 2 boys running her own business, I am always looking for a good bargain. Especially when it comes to books. So, I wanted to share some of my favorite places to buy books. If you haven't already, check out my other blog post "Book Apps You Need" for apps to get free/discounted books.

-Amazon

In my other post, I mentioned the Monthly First Reads and KU, but Amazon always has amazing deals. Every so often there is Stuff My Kindle days. These are days when many ebooks (usually designated to one genre) are FREE.

This works by clicking on ebooks under Kindle on Amazon, then selecting "Show low to high". All the FREE books will pop up first (you can honestly do this daily if you like cuz they always have surprise deals). This is also how you'll find my next bargain hack. Amazon has a TON of ebooks for $0.99.

I have bought physical copies from them, but it’s not as often. I have a wishlist designated just to books I want so I can be notified when they go on sale. I also have a wishlist with the same ones just as ebooks for the same reason.

Sometimes you can find really good deals, especially around Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Prime Month (July).

-ThriftBooks

This is my go-to bookstore. I have been using this website since I was in high school. I personally love buying used books over new books. And ThriftBooks has most books for under $5.

-Goodwill

Every time I go to one I have to check the book section. You never know what you’ll find and they always have specials going on. A few weeks ago got 15 hardcover BookTok books for under $25, some were even in new condition.

-Mercari & Facebook Marketplace

These two go hand in hand so I made them one shop. I can usually find someone selling multiple books I'm looking for and get great bundle deals! Sometimes I can even find someone local that I can meet up with to get them!

-Half Price Books

I’m not sure if this is a nationwide store or just Phoenix, but this is a great place to always find good deals on books. Plus they buy your used books as well. Sometimes they’ll even offer you more if you’ll take store credit.

-Zia Records

Another one I’m not sure how far they span, but they usually have good book finds. Especially if you’re looking for comics or TV/Movie related books. Same as Half Price they buy your used books as well. I have found some amazing graphic novels I didn’t know existed at these stores.

-Joffe Books

They have a newsletter list that I suggest joining. They are always sending me daily deals for ebooks for only $0.99. Usually, they’re an entire series as well. Fridays are Free Book Fridays, every Friday they send a link for one ebook you can get for free.

-Barnes & Noble

I put this one last as it is the most expensive one on the list. But there is something so nostalgic and wonderful about walking into a Barnes & Noble and shopping their selection. They also now have an app that is always promoting new deals. You can also add your Barnes & Noble and it will tell you about upcoming events & author signings. They also have a rewards program that gives you one stamp for every $10 in a purchase. After 10 stamps you get a $5 reward. They also have a paid subscription that gets you more discounts and deals.
